My Process

For anyone curious, when making my comics, I start off getting the rough ideas down, and writing out bits of my stories. Then all the pencils are done on your standard sized printer paper. After that, I scan all the pages and bring then to Adobe Photoshop where I do the line art, or digital inking, as I like to call it. Once the frames have been set and the pencils have their line art, we move on to color. Then we add shadows on a new layer. Then I like to use the shape tool to design some simple word bubbles. After this is all done, I take the file over to Adobe Illustrator where I use the Image Trace Tool to smoothen out the pixels of the Photoshop file and give it a nice Vector finish. I add the text to their bubbles, and then the work is finished for each page. When formatting the entire comic, I have a folding dummy for placement purposes to help align pages on a spreadsheet. I take all the files into Adobe InDesign and using the folding dummy, I place the files into their correct positions and create the entire printable template for each comics issue. I then print and reprint until any issues are resolved.
